Introducing a Made-to-Order Furniture Collection Inspired from the Scalamandré Archives
Since 1929 Scalamandré has been considered a destination for connoisseurs of design and all things beautiful. We are proud to extend our legacy with our first retail collection, crafted by American manufacturer Cloth & Company.
The Chicago-based company was similarly founded on a love for the art of textile design, and pioneered the act of in-house designing, printing and upholstering. Utilizing 3D rendering technology, Cloth & Company is able to turn inspiration into collections at unmatched speed. They also use a 100% clean water run-off process, digitally printing only what is needed for production to minimize waste and carbon footprint.
Cloth & Company is a family of artisan furniture makers, using many of the same techniques passed down over four generations. Using a combination of technology and careful hand craftsmanship, their pieces are truly built to last. Now we join the ranks of top designers, brands and artists who have partnered with Cloth & Company, and hope this collection brings beauty and joy to your home.
With a balance of archival inspiration and trendsetting design, these signature pieces are created for maximalist appeal. Explore the collection and the history behind each motif below!

Our signature print reached star status decades ago, and it all began at Gino's, an upper east side eatery in Manhattan with splashy red zebra motif walls that became synonymous with the restaurant itself. When a fire ravaged Gino's in 1973, the scalamandré family was tasked with restoring its interior.
Franco Scalamandré’s wife, Flora, freehanded her own version of the original, and so began Scalamandré’s spin on the dashing print. Today it lives in classic film sets and countless designer projects.
For our newest capsule, we’ve reimagined this iconic motif in four fresh hues. Digitally printed on a crisp cotton-blend ground, our zebras look more striking than ever.

Originally a hand-printed wallcovering, Koi Fish inspired us with its kitschy, 1970s approach to chinoiserie. The patchwork effect and detailed patterning make this design a Scalamandré icon.
We toned down the psychedelic tones of the archival pieces to create two new harmonious colorways.
This elegant toile was originally a hand-printed wallcovering and fabric adapted for the Irish Georgian Society.
The fine linework and graceful motifs were redrawn, rescaled and recolored, yet still retain the spirit of the document with two new colorways

True to its name, Tropical Flora transports us to faraway lands with curving vines, exotic blooms and luxuriant foliage. The original fabric launched in 1992 and was hand-printed at the Scalamandré mill in Long Island City.
This thirty-year old document gains new life as a statement digital print in two fresh colors.
The original Scalamandré mill reproduced this darling leaf pattern for the walls of the Prestwould Estate in Virginia in the early
1990s.
